inclusion of the object itself.&lt;BR/&gt;But since indexes are used in a tree structure, how efficient are the solid angles that emcompass the child solid angles? This is important because this is where most of the checking and quick elimination will be done. The problem is not distortion around the poles, but that the minimal coverage gets distorted with the bounding box method. Outlier points can stretch the corners of the bounding box so the coverage is far from minimal.
